Walk no.4 - Ogmore to Nash Point

Well, where do we even start?!
We had planned a good, solid walk from Merthyr Mawr to Nash Point, but... it didn't quite work out like that! We parked in Candleston, and after following the Wales Coast Path signs for a few miles, realised we were on the wrong side of the estuary. We opted to cut across the estuary which, in hindsight, was probably quite dangerous. So, don't do what we did. (Yes, we're adjusted our AllTrails map to make sure you don't bugger it up like we did!)

Thankfully, after our dip through the freezing water, the walk was pretty straight forward for us. Some absolutely stunning views as we walked from (our new start point of) Ogmore, over the cliffs and towards Southerndown.
We stopped for Lunch at Dunraven Bay, making the most of the facilities at the beach (including a picnic table - a proper luxury!) And seeming as the gardens were open, we wandered through Dunraven Castle, before climbing the hills to get ontop of the cliffs once more.

This part of the world never ceases to blow us away. The stretches of beaches, the patterns in the layered rocks, and the views across the English channel make for some very special sights.
We stopped for a coffee break at Monknash Beach (from our flasks, mind you - this is one beach that feels wonderfully removed from all the trappings of tourism), before one final ascent to the clifftops, and the final couple of miles to our end point.
We were shocked at how quickly we finished this walk - before we realised that obviously the walk would have taken us less time, given we didn't actually walk a good chunk of the route. We resolved to walk the estuary around Merthyr Mawr another day, sat and had an ice-cream, and chalked it all up to experience.

As always, you can catch our video blog from today Here, and see all our photos from our South Wales walks Here.
